I would like to welcome everyone to my Principles of Health Science course at Metcalfe County High School. This course is an introductory course into the Health Sciences program at MCHS and provides a foundation for the Medicaid Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy Tech pathways. This will be my second year teaching at MCHS. It's exciting to see how many students are interested in the healthcare field. I encourage them to be goal oriented, respectful, and interactive leaders in my classroom.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University in May of 2004 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. I have been practicing as a Registered Nurse for the past 12 years. I have worked in cardiac care for a brief time, however most of my experience has been working with the pediatric and neonatal population. I also worked in public health for a few years as an elementary school nurse in Barren county. I am currently a full time graduate student myself, pursuing a Master's of Science degree in Nursing Education.
I encourage any student that may be interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field to look into the health sciences program at MCHS. It is a great program that provides a lot of opportunity to our students as they purse their goals after graduation.
