Principal's Message
Dear Metcalfe County Middle School Family,
I am very blessed and excited to begin the 2022-2023 school year as your Metcalfe County Middle School principal. I am eager to serve you and your family as your child learns and grows on their middle school journey. The vision of Metcalfe County Middle School is to equip students to be confident and creative problem-solvers who will succeed in a diverse society. I believe that every student can learn and be successful if provided with the right supports and opportunities. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing all students with an appropriate and challenging educational experience in a respectful environment that fosters learning and growth.
Metcalfe County Middle School is an amazing learning community for all of our students and staff. We offer a rigorous curriculum through high-quality instruction and personal connections that motivate students to achieve their goals. MCMS focuses on both academic and social/emotional needs. Our core classes include English/language arts, math, science, and social studies. Those core classes provide a strong foundation to allow students to pursue beyond the classroom. In addition, we have specific electives such as service learning, creative writing, life skills, forensics, band, arts/humanities, physical education, media/yearbook, etc. that will give more opportunities to showcase your child's educational strengths.
We have a structured PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) system that helps encourage positive character traits and excellence that we expect from all of our Hornets including being respectful, responsible, and safe. We are committed to engaging all school stakeholders by building supportive relationships in order to establish a positive learning culture and environment.
A crucial part of success for students is attendance. As a parent or guardian, it is essential for you to maintain an attitude that “Every Day Counts” for students to be in school and ready to learn each day. At Metcalfe County Middle School, we will assist in helping parents and families understand the importance of instructional time and school attendance. We also recognize that family and community support are integral to our success. Parents/Guardians play the most important roles in a student's success, and I invite you to collaborate with us in your students' education.
We provide feedback to parents and students utilizing the Infinite Campus, teacher email, and teacher websites.
Furthermore, when we take the time to strategically plan, create positive relationships, celebrate our achievements, and continue to build on our successful foundation, we can foster a learning environment where our entire Metcalfe County community thrives.
Again, I welcome you to our MCMS family and look forward to the opportunity to become partners in education with you. I am truly honored to be a part of the Metcalfe County Hornet Nation. Where options and opportunities await!
Best wishes,
Mrs. Jenny Stotts-Lundy- Principal @ MCMS
