Metcalfe County Schools to Host Community Safety Discussion MCS Logo

EDMONTON, Ky. (February 23, 2018) – Metcalfe County Schools will host a community-wide discussion concerning school safety on Thursday, March 1 at 6pm. The discussion will take place at the Metcalfe County Middle School auditorium.

Superintendent Benny Lile will lead the discussion. He commented, “The safety of our children is the number one goal of all of us, and due to unfortunate tragic events of the last several weeks, everyone is looking for answers.” He added, “This is an issue people want to talk about. They want to hear directly from school officials what is being done in the name of school safety. It provides an opportunity for us to have a dialogue with our community, to hear each other, and that is vitally important.”

School principals, central office directors, and school board members plan to be in attendance. Local law enforcement officers have also been invited to take part in the discussion.

Director of School Safety Chris Huffman said, “We will be glad to discuss the technicalities, if you will, of our process and procedures, but more than anything, I look forward to the sharing of ideas around the human component of this issue.”

Anyone who cannot attend the discussion may email comments or questions directly to Dr. Lile at benny.lile@metcalfe.kyschools.us.

A Message from Superintendent Benny Lile

Superintendent Benny Lile addresses the Metcalfe County School community concerning the events this week.

Senior Night Basketball Games Cancelled

Unfortunately, there have been more than half a dozen Kentucky school districts that have investigated comments made against their schools today. One of those comments has been made about tonight’s varsity basketball games. Unfortunately, due to the irresponsible actions of one individual, tonight’s games and all related activities have been cancelled. That person has been identified and the appropriate authorities have been notified.

A Message from Superintendent Benny Lile

FEBRUARY 16, 2018

Like in so many school districts across the country, many of us may be feeling a heightened since of anxiety following the tragic events in our nation. Our school district is also dealing with rumors. While we investigate all reports, these are still just rumors. We want to assure all students and parents that there are no creditable threats. Anyone caught making a threat against our schools, students or staff will face criminal charges.

Throwback Game
Hornet fans filled the Old School Gym Saturday night, January 27, for the annual "Throwback Night." The cheerleaders, shown above, wore vintage uniforms, some from decades ago. The Metcalfe girls and boys varsity teams hosted Green County. While the Dragaons won both games, the night was about much more than the numbers on the scoreboard. Fans of both teams wore blue and orange in support of Marshall County High School, and the players gathered for prayers after both games. To see more photos from the evening just click "read more".
