Drivers Education

Instructor: Doug Clemmons

This class is available for all students in Metcalfe and surrounding counties who would like a better understanding of driving rules/regulations, safety and basic care maintenance. You will have 30 hrs. of instruction/classroom time, plus 6 hrs. of drive time with the instructor. Upon completion of this course you will be issued a Driver’s Education certificate that can be used to possibly receive insurance discounts.

10 sessions: Mondays, Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29; Oct. 13, 20, 27; Nov.3, 10, 17

CPR Class

Instructor: Joe Gerughty

Student Cost: Depends on the number enrolled at registration deadline. You will be contacted of the price and payment can be made the day of the class

1-6 students $40

7-12 students $35

13 or more $30

**Cost covers class time which includes: video, hands-on time, roster fees, and certification cards.

This one-day course will require some study time prior to the meeting on the 10th. Please come by the Community Ed. office to receive your materials once you have registered for the class. Book will be supplied by the instructor but must be returned at the end of the day (10th). If not returned, a fee of $15/book must be paid before receiving your certification card.

Hunter Education (Orange Card Class)

Instructor: Bobby McKee

This training course includes study in Hunter Ethics, Wildlife Conservation and Identification, Field Care of Game, First Aid, Firearm Safety, Archery and Muzzle loading. The last session of the course will include a written test and a live fire exercise. All materials including firearms and ammunition are provided at NO CHARGE.

The Do’s and Don’ts in Selling on EBay

E-Bay Introduction Class: Learn how to use E Bay to buy and sell objects for fun or profit. How
to collect, research, use E-Bay in determining market price of objects or just to make extra money by selling items. What to sell and how to find it and buy it. How to use special tools to improve existing skills and learn new tips and tricks. Learn how to navigate E-Bay, How to make the most of your time and
energy! We will raise your skill level on EBay!
Class Check list:
* You must have an E-Bay ID and have account set up to buy and sell. (If you have never bought or sold, that is OK)
* You may bring a few items that you think could be sold for profit and we will investigate them

Holiday Cricutting!!

Instructor: Lindsey Thomas

Do you need to get into the fall spirit? At this class we will be creating the perfect craft to get you in the mood for fall! We will be using the Cricut expressions machine to create vinyl fall decor. This is a versatile gift that can be used for any season. The best part is it is easy to make. It is a stand up, lighted block, with a saying of your choice on the front.
Supplies: glass block ($8.00 at Lowes), 1 strand of lights, 1 roll of vinyl color of your choice, faux fall flowers (optional), wired ribbon (optional).

Yarning to be a SCARF….II (Chevron Scarf)

Instructor: Janet Bennett

Call it Chevron, Zig-Zag, or Ripple!

We’re going to use this pattern to crochet a scarf. Choose a soft yarn such as 'I Love This Yarn' found exclusively at Hobby Lobby, Red Heart's 'With Love' or Caron's 'Simply Soft' from Wal-Mart. You'll need an H or I hook. An H hook will make a scarf about 9 1/2 inches in width while an I hook will make your scarf about 10 1/2 inches wide. In my swatches I used the medium 4 weight, I Love This Yarn.

Talk to the Hands (Basic Sign-Language)

Instructor: Charlotte Roach

Let's talk about talking...with our hands. Come join us for a basic American Sign Language Class. In these three classes, you’ll learn the alphabet and many other useful signs. It's a fun new language that will let you communicate with those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

”Let Your Fingers Do the Walking” (Finger Knitting)

Instructor: Janet Bennett

Knitting with your fingers (Finger knitting) is a productive way to spend your free time when you want something fun to do. When you are finished, you will have a beautiful rope of yarn that can be used for many different items, such as key ring ropes, decorations for your hair, scarves or belts. It’s so easy; the whole family can join in on the fun!

Supply list: Bring a medium weight yarn of your color choice with you.

Ratta-Tat-Tat (Beginning Tatting) - Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace constructed by a series of knots and loops. Tatting can be used to make lace edging as well.

How to Train Your Dog

Instructor: Jamie Moss

Most of the time, people believe they are training their dog to perform a task. Instead, we need to train our dog to learn. Like humans, dogs gain experience with age and opportunity. Set your puppy up with the fundamentals of how to learn. This class will use Labrador retrievers trained or in training by the instructor to demonstrate basic citizenship. The class focus will be fundamentals of citizenship and how to prepare your dog for a life of learning!

Metal-Morphosis (Beginning Welding)

Instructor: Josh Jones

Turn your junk into a work of art! Bring in old junk metal and let Mr. Jones and some of his student welders help you in creating something useful or decorative for your home/yard. In this class, learn the basics of welding in order to transform, or repair things around your home for further use.

T-Shirt Quilt Class

Don’t throw those t-shirts away; use them to create a “glory day” keepsake! Come join us for two short quilting sessions to create a forever keepsake using favorite, old t-shirts.

2 Sessions: Thursday, Nov. 6 (5-7 pm) & Sat. Nov. 8 (9-?)

Supply List: 30 t-shirts (fronts only), or 15 t-shirts (fronts & backs), thread will be supplied unless you want a particular color then bring your own, scissors, batting (70x80), backing (material for the back 70x80)

Sewing for Beginners

Instructor: Wendy Gibson

Is your sewing machine gathering dust because you don’t remember how to use it or you never really learned how? Learn the basics of your sewing machine the first night. After that, learn about using a simple pattern, pattern vocabulary and selecting appropriate material. The last night, you’ll bring in your selected colored fabric to create a simple infinity scarf. Bring your machine and its manual (if available)

Pretty Things (Jewelry-Making Class)

Instructor: Charity Nunnally

Nothing is more fun than creating jewelry to match a new outfit or as a special one of a kind gift. During this class, you’ll learn to make a beaded wire bracelet and matching earrings. We’ll learn about different types of wire, beads, tools and findings. The goal is not to just make jewelry but to learn the basics so you can continue on your own.

Layers of Love-GAME CHANGERS

Instructor: Heather Shaw, Geneva Scroggy

Metcalfe County Community Education and Metcalfe County Extension Service will be offering an activity for children ages 5-12 on Saturday, December 13 at 6 pm during the MCHS ballgame.

The activity “Layers of Love” will be just in time for the holiday season. The students will not only learn about nutrition but will have the opportunity to create a jar of layered cookie or soup ingredients to give to someone as a gift for Christmas.


Upon registration, the student will receive free admission to the game plus one free adult ticket. Those tickets will be distributed the night of the activity. Once the activity is complete, students will display their work by marching around the gym during halftime of the first game.
