Metcalfe County Public Library Summer Reading Program Metcalfe County Public Library

Metcalfe County Public Library will be hosting an amazing summer reading progam! Events include The Mastersons--a very professional, realistic magic show, the Hornets Nest Pickers, a movie night, and more. There will be a teen only event and lots of prize giveaways. Spring Break
Spring Break is officially underway!
We hope everyone enjoys their time off.

Central office hours will be from 8am until 3pm April 2-6.
Normal operations and classes resume on Monday, April 9.

Metcalfe County Schools Closed Through Friday

Metcalfe County Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday, January 18 and 19, 2018. Both days will be NTID. All students should follow the instructions provided by their teachers in order to complete studies and assignments at home.

MCMS Presents The Wizard of Oz

The MCMS 21st Century program will present "The Wizard of Oz" on May 3,4,5 at 6pm each night at the MCMS auditorium. The performances are free, but donations are accepted. A big thanks to WBKO Midday Live! for allowing our young actors preview the show. You can watch the clip here:

21st Century Summer Camp 21st Century

Students entering the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades are invited to attend the 21st Century Summer Camp. The camp will take place at Metcalfe County Middle School June 4-22, 8am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday. The camp is free, and bus transportation will be provided. Breakfast, lunch, and a snack will be served at no cost.

Congratulations to our MCMS students who participated in Livestock and Dairy Judging at the WKU Expo Center. Individual members scored well and placed high. Overall, Metcalfe placed 1st and 3rd in Dairy Judging with three separate teams. Way to go!

Like in so many school districts across the country, many of us may be feeling a heightened since of anxiety following the tragic events in our nation. Our school district is also dealing with rumors. While we investigate all reports, these are still just rumors. We want to assure all students and parents that there are no creditable threats. Anyone caught making a threat against our schools, students or staff will face criminal charges.

A group of MCMS 8th graders recently visited American Engineers, Inc. in Glasgow. The trip was part of their personalized learning experience. All of the students have accelerated in multiple classes. Brad High, a geologist with the company and a Metcalfe County graduate, was the group's tour guide.

MCMS welcomes each of their students back to school in August. Each grade will have a different day to come meet teachers, get schedules, etc.The school will be open from 12:00 - 6:00 on the following schedule:

Preparing for Snow Days


We would like to remind everyone that Metcalfe County Schools are again participating in the Non-Traditional Instructional Day (NTID), or “Snow Day” project. On the days school is dismissed for inclement weather all students should follow the instructions provided by their teachers in order to complete studies and assignments at home. Any day missed for snow directly before or after Christmas break will be considered an NTID day. As always, please contact your child’s school if you have questions.

The Metcalfe County Middle School softball team celebrated 8th Grade Night on May 11, and scored a big win over rival Russell County.

American Idol Contestant Performs for MCMS Layla Spring

American Idol contestant Layla Spring, from Marion County, Ky., performed for the students at Metcalfe County Middle School on April 17. Layla made the top 24 of American Idol before being cut. She is now traveling around the state with her family and little sister Dyxie. Layla and Dyxie entertained the students and staff with music, autographs, and selfies.
