High School Safety Initiative

"Due to recent events in our nation and locally we are making the following changes to our safety procedures;

Do not bring a backpack, draw string bag, or purse larger than 10"x7" to school.  If your extracurricular activity requires equipment in a bag you are to enter through the front office door and leave it in the front office.  If you are spending the night with someone and need a bag for clothes come in the front door and leave it in the room in the front office.  If your parent drops you off and you have a large bag, your parent needs to drop you off at the front door because you cannot enter the building with a large bag except through the front office door.  Remember to always yield to the buses.  We will not let you in a side door with a bag larger than 10"x7".  Girls no large purses.  No purses larger than 10"x7".  You may carry a mesh see through backpack to put in your locker or a plastic see through bag to put in your locker.  Only if we can see the contents of the bag may you take it to your locker.  If you are a driver with a big bag, park in front and come in the front door of the office, if you plan to bring it in the building. ALL bags are subject to be searched.

If you or your parent has questions feel free to contact me, like always, at 270-432-2481.  We are not trying to inconvenience anyone with these changes to our safety procedures but we are going to make every effort to keep your precious child, students' safety,  our greatest concern. "

One of those comments has been made about tonight’s varsity basketball games. Unfortunately, due to the irresponsible actions of one individual, tonight’s games and all related activities have been cancelled. Our school district is also dealing with rumors. While we investigate all reports, these are still just rumors. We want to assure all students and parents that there are no creditable threats. Anyone caught making a threat against our schools, students or staff will face criminal charges.

Throwback Game
Hornet fans filled the Old School Gym Saturday night, January 27, for the annual "Throwback Night." The cheerleaders, shown above, wore vintage uniforms, some from decades ago. The Metcalfe girls and boys varsity teams hosted Green County. While the Dragaons won both games, the night was about much more than the numbers on the scoreboard. Fans of both teams wore blue and orange in support of Marshall County High School, and the players gathered for prayers after both games. To see more photos from the evening just click "read more".
