Response to Intervention
What is RTI?
“Response to intervention (RtI) integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and to maximize social and behavioral competencies. With RtI, schools identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities” (National Center on Response to Intervention).
What data is used to monitor progress at MCHS?
We are focused on Literacy and Math. MAP scores, PLAN scores, ACT scores and individual classroom progress are used.
What does it look like?
Enrichment groups for students meeting benchmarks, Reading groups of chosen book studies or self selected readings, Read 180, KOSSA review groups, ACT help groups and other groupings based on student needs (Math, Social Studies, Science, English, Foreign Language). AP help sessions are also offered.
RTI at MCHS is Monday thru Thursday. It is during a thirty minute period of time.
