Metcalfe County Schools will be closed Wednesday, January 17, 2018. This day will be a NTID. All students should follow the instructions provided by their teachers in order to complete studies and assignments at home.

* Metcalfe at Monroe G/B varsity games scheduled for tonight, January 13, 2018, have benn postponed. We are working on a make-up date. 

* Class A Tiime Change: Class A games at Metcalfe County between the Lady Falcons and Lady Hornets Monday night will now begin at 4pm. Boys at 5:30pm.

New Immunization Requirements

A recent amendment to the Kentucky Administrative Regulation on the immunization schedules for attending school added new immunization requirements for the school year beginning on or after July 1, 2018.

Effective July 1, 2018:

  • ALL students in kindergarten through 12th grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school.
  • Students age 16 years or older, must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (MenACWY) to attend school. If the first dose of MenACWY at age 16 years or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.

Class "A" 4th Region Basketball Tournament

The Metcalfe County Hornets and Lady Hornets will be hosting Monroe County on Monday, Jan 15, in the opening round of the Class "A" 4th Region Basketball Tournament. The girls will tip off at 6pm with the boys to follow. Winners will advance to Clinton County where the semifinals and finals will be held Jan. 17, 18, and 19.


Metcalfe County School officials regularly monitor weather conditions, particularly during the winter months.  There is regular communication with area emergency personnel and related agencies.  Should there ever be a need to dismiss school early and/or cancel a school day, the information will be released by the following methods.


Within minutes of the decision being made the announcement will:

  • Be sent to all local media outlets (Television and Radio)
  • Will be posted prominently on the district web site
  • Will be posted on Facebook and Twitter
  • A district One Call will be initiated immediately

Preparing for Snow Days


We would like to remind everyone that Metcalfe County Schools are again participating in the Non-Traditional Instructional Day (NTID), or “Snow Day” project. On the days school is dismissed for inclement weather all students should follow the instructions provided by their teachers in order to complete studies and assignments at home. Any day missed for snow directly before or after Christmas break will be considered an NTID day. As always, please contact your child’s school if you have questions.

The MCHS National Honor Society held its "Wrap Up and Read" party with the kindergarten students at MCES today -- even Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by for a visit!

Nearly 150 Metcalfe County High School Students were recognized at the 7th Annual Breakfast of Champions on December 15. The breakfast honors 2017 MCHS AP and Dual Credit students. It's sponsored by MCHS and the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce.

Metcalfe County Bands Present "Christmas Around the World"

Metcalfe County Band students performed before a full house at the MCMS auditorium Thursday night December 14. There were four seperate performances: MCMS 6th Grade Band, MCMS 7th Grade Band, MCHS Percussion Ensemble, and MCHS Concert Band.
