Molly Matney Receives Golden Apple

Molly Matney Golden Apple Award

Miss Kentucky Molly Matney received the first ever Golden Apple award during a special celebration at Metcalfe County High School on August 12. The event included Judge Executive Greg Wilson proclaiming the day as Molly Matney Day and Mayor Howard Garrett presenting Molly with the Key to the City. Molly will compete for Miss America on Sunday, September 10.

Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton visited Metcalfe County High School on Friday, August 11. She presented materials for the Lieutenant Governor's Entrepreneurship Challenge. LGEC is a statewide competition for high school students who are given an opportunity to start their own companies, submit business plans, and compete for scholarships. MCS New Employees

Metcalfe County students will see a few new faces when school starts. The district introduced 13 new employees at the Board of Education office on Aug. 10.

Teachers and staff at Metcalfe County Schools are getting ready to welcome students back to class on August 24. Back to school events are scheduled throughout the month to help parents and children prepare for opening day.

No Supply List

No FeesNo Supply Lists

Again, for the 2017-18 school year, Metcalfe County Schools will have no supply lists and no student fees. Students will be expected to have paper and pencil, but beyond that, the schools will provide other needed items. Students are welcome to bring their favorite folder, binder, or any other item, but there is no requirement for such.

Metcalfe County Teen Competes Down Under

Allie Thomas

Congrats to Metcalfe County cross country runner Allie Thomas who recently returned from an international competition in Australia. Allie was one of just 200 student-athletes from across the United States invited to take part in 20th annual Down Under Gold Coast Classic. Out of the 3,035 runners who completed the course – Allie finished 219th overall and ninth in her age group.

Molly Matney, a 2015 graduate of Metcalfe County High School, is the new Miss Kentucky. She will compete in the Miss America pageant on September 10 in Atlantic City.
